น้ำใจในบ้านเรา
อำเภอเมืองจังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี หรือที่คนในท้องที่จะเรียกกันติดปากว่า “บ้านดอน” เป็นเหมือนบ้านเกิดของครูปูค่ะ (เพราะมาอยู่ตั้งแต่ขวบเดียว)
คุณยายเล่าให้ฟังว่า ต่อให้ภาคใต้น้ำท่วมหมด ยังไงก็จะเหลืออำเภอนี้แหล่ะ ที่ไม่มีทางถูกน้ำท่วม (ฟังดูเท่ๆ ยังไงไม่รู้นะคะ) ถึงครูปูจะเนรคุณนิด ๆ ด้วยการพูดใต้ไม่เป็น เนื่องจากไม่มีใครในบ้านเป็นคนใต้เลย แต่ก็ฟังรู้เรื่องโม้ด… ใครอย่าได้นินทาทีเดียวเชียว แฮ่ๆ…
ลงจากรถทัวร์เกือบตีห้าก็เจอหน้าเจ้าเพื่อนเลิฟตั้งแต่วัยเด็กยืนงัวเงียอย่างน่าเอ็นดู เพราะถูกครูปูโทรจิกให้มารับที่ขนส่งตั้งแต่ตีสี่ เอามือลูบหัวไปสองสามทีเพื่อแสดงความขอบคุณ แล้วต่อด้วยการเมาท์กระจายกันมาตลอดทาง
“แกรู้หรือยังว่าไอ้แหม่มแว่นมันท้องแล้ว”
“เฮ๊ย เหรอ มันแต่งงานตั้งแต่เมื่อไหร่ ไม่เห็นมีใครบอกฉันบ้างเลย”
“แล้วแกรู้หรือยังว่าตอนนี้ ไอ้วรรณมันเปิดร้านขายปูนึ่งแล้วนะ มันให้ไอ้วัฒน์ กิ๊กเก่าแกที่ดอนสักเอามาส่งให้สด ๆ เลย

แกต้องไปให้ได้นะ ไม่งั๊นพวกฉันอด เพราะฉันก็สั่งลูกค้าซาละเปากับน้ำเต้าหู้ของฉันแล้วว่าอาทิตย์นี้จะปิดร้านเที่ยวอาทิตย์นึง ไอ้ปุ๊ก็สั่งลูกค้าเสื้อมันแล้ว พี่หยงก็สั่งลูกค้าสับปะรดของแกไว้แล้ว พี่บ่างก็ลางานไว้แล้ว เจ๊อ้อยลาได้ 2 วันก็โอเค”
“เวรจริง ๆ พวกแกนี่ ฉันอยู่กรุงเทพเหนื่อยแทบครางหงิง ๆ กลับมาจะอยู่กับบ้านให้หายคิดถึงซะหน่อย ใครบอกแกไม่ทราบว่าฉันพิศวาสอยากไปเที่ยวสมุยน่ะ”
“เออน่า แกอย่ามาทำเล่นตัวเลย พวกฉันอุตสาห์อั้นเรื่องเที่ยวกันมาตั้งนาน โหวตกันแล้วว่าจะรอแกกลับมาก่อนจะได้ครบเซ็ต แกก็รู้ว่าถ้าแกไม่ไป ไอ้วรรณก็ไม่ยอมไปอยู่แล้ว ถ้าไอ้วรรณไม่ไปพวกเราก็อดนั่งเรือข้ามเกาะฟรี อดบ้านพักฟรี อดใช้รถฟรีอ่ะดิ่ แกก็ไปคิดดูแล้วกันว่าจะตามใจตัวเองหรือจะทำเพื่อส่วนรวมก่อน”
“เออ ๆ ก็ได้วะ ฉันชักมีอารมณ์ขึ้นมาแร่ะ”
“อารมณ์อยากไปเที่ยวเหรอ?”
“เปล่า! อารมณ์อยากจะลากไอ้มอเตอร์ไซค์คันนี้ลงข้างทางน่ะสิ แกกะฉันจะได้ไปด้วยกันชั่วนิรันดรเลยเป็นไง”
“ก๊ากกกกๆๆๆๆ”
เสียงหัวเราะลั่นถนนแบบไร้ยางอายเช่นนี้คงจะเป็นใครไปไม่ได้นอกจากยายลูกสาวตัวดี และเจ้าเพื่อนซี้ตัวแสบ
แม่ซึ่งไม่เคยนอนหลับเลยในคืนที่รู้ว่าลูกคนไหนจะกลับมาบ้าน ก็จะตื่นมานั่งรอลูกก่อนเสมอ
ก็ไม่รู้ว่าแม่ตื่นเต้นที่ลูกจะกลับมาหรืออับอายเพื่อนบ้านกลัวจะได้ยินเสียงโวยวายของลูกสาวกันแน่
พอได้ยินเสียงรถจอดเอี้ยดดด…
แม่ถึงได้รีบเปิดประตูบ้านทันที ผึง!
ภาพแม่ยิ้มหวานตาแดงแจ๋ และภาพยายนั่งตำหมากแต่ส่งยิ้มหวานเจี้ยบมาให้ก็ปรากฏขึ้นในบัดดล
นาทีแห่งการกลายร่างกลับเป็นเด็กอีกครั้ง เริ่มต้น ณ บัดนี้…
หลังจากกอดรัดฟัดเหวี่ยงกันพอเป็นพิธีแล้วก็เอนหลังเล่นกับเพื่อนบนเตียงยายไปก่อน เพื่อฟังเสียงเตี่ยกับแม่แย่งกันเป็นเจ้าของเมนูแต่ละจาน อันได้แก่ ปลากะพงทอด ปลาจาระเม็ดนึ่งบ๊วย ฉู่ฉี่ปลาทู แกงจืดเต้าหู้ขาว ปูนึ่งและสะตอเผา โดยแต่ละจานได้รับการถกเถียงและเตรียมการกันมาร่วมอาทิตย์ ว่าล้วนแต่เป็นสับเซ็ตของจานโปรดครูปูทั้งสิ้น
อ้อ! ลืมบอกไปค่ะ ที่บ้านมีอาชีพทำประมงจับปลาด้วยเรืออวนลาก มีเรือสองลำ จึงกินกุ้ง ปู ปลา หมึกสดมาตั้งแต่เด็ก มาอยู่กรุงเทพแรก ๆ แทบร้องไห้เพราะอาหารการกินไม่สมบูรณ์เหมือนบ้านเราสักนิด 
ขอย้ำนะคะ ทั้งหมดนี่คือกับข้าวของสามคนพ่อแม่ลูกกะเจ้าเพื่อนหัวแก้วหัวแหวนอีกหนึ่งเท่านั้น ไม่รวมยายค่ะ เพราะเจ้านั้นมิสามารถมาเกลือกกลั้วกินกับข้าวพื้น ๆ แบบพวกเราได้ อิอิ
เตี่ยกับแม่ก็จะเฝ้ารอเสียง comment จากครูปูเพื่อจะได้โยนความผิดกันไปมา 5555…
ไม่รู้จะมีแต่พวกอยู่ไกลบ้านอย่างครูปูหรือเปล่านะคะ ที่รู้สึกว่ากินข้าวบ้านเราไม่เหมือนกินข้าวที่ไหนในโลก บางวันกับข้าวยังกะราชา บางวันเหลือแค่ปลาทูติดตู้กับข้าวกับไข่เค็มครึ่งซีกของยาย แต่มันอร่อยอ่ะ อร่อยไปหมด แม่ถามว่าอันไหนอร่อยยังตอบไม่ถูกเลยค่ะ
รู้แต่ว่ามันครึ้ม ๆ กระดี๊กระด๊า วี้ดวิ่วตลอดเวลา อยู่กรุงเทพกินข้าวแทบจะนับเม็ดได้ พอกลับไปบ้านกินข้าวต้องนับหน่วยเป็นกระป๋อง
ความที่มันเป็นบ้านเรา จะอยู่ในชุดนอนตั้งแต่เช้ายันเย็นยังไงก็ได้ นอนเอี้ยน้ำท่าไม่อาบ เดินผ่านแม่กำลังกินข้าวแค่ไปยืนเหล่ ๆ แม่ก็จะลุ้น
“ม่ะ แม่ป้อนคำนึง”
“ไม่เอาอ่ะแม่ ลูกยังไม่แปรงฟันเลย”
“เอาน่าไม่เป็นไร ลองดูคำนึงอร่อยนะเชื่อแม่”
“โอเช ๆ หมับ!”
เหลือบเห็นยายผัดข้าวแค่ถามว่ายายทำอะไร เท่านั้นแหละ ยายจะกุลีกุจอไปตักข้าวสวยมาเพิ่มในกะทะที่กำลังผัดอีกทันที พร้อมใส่เนื้อปูแกะลงไปไม่ยั้ง มากกว่าที่ตัวเองกินเองแยะ คงสงสารหลานที่นาน ๆ จะได้กินที เจ้าปูเอ๋ย ทั้งที่เจ้ายังไม่มีโอกาสได้หิวแม้แต่น้อย แต่เจ้าจงเตรียมตัวไว้ได้เลยนะ ขอบอก
ครู่เดียว คนแก่วัยเกือบเก้าสิบก็ถือจานข้าวผัดปูที่มีแตงกวาปอกเปลือกลวก ๆ ตามร้านไม่มีนะคะ ปอกแตงกวาได้เว้า ๆ แหว่ง ๆ แบบนี้ อิอิ พร้อมพริกน้ำปลามะนาว โรยหน้ามาเรียบร้อย ยกมาเสิร์ฟเจ้าหลานวีไอพีถึงหน้าจอทีวีทุกทีไป
สิ่งแวดล้อม บรรยากาศ ญาติ ๆ เพื่อน ๆ ความมีน้ำใจของครอบครัวเรา ที่ทำบ้านกึ่ง ๆ เป็นโรงเจ เนื่องจากเป็นคนใจคอกว้างขวางและมีน้ำใจ อยู่กันแค่ 2-3 คน แต่หุงข้าวเต็มหม้อเผื่อชาวบ้านทุกวัน ทำกับข้าวทีนึงก็ต้องทำจานใหญ่ ๆ เยอะ ๆ เนื่องจากมีเพื่อน ๆ ญาติ ๆ คนรู้จักแวะเวียนมาบ้านไม่ได้ขาด ประตูบ้านครูปูไม่เคยมีโอกาสปิดเลยระหว่างวัน ยกเว้นเข้านอนตอนหัวค่ำนู่นแหละ
ยิ่งอยู่ในถิ่นของชาวประมงซึ่งรู้จักมักคุ้นกับแทบทุกบ้าน รู้เลยว่าบ้านนี้มีเรืออวนลาก อวนรุนกี่ลำ เรือไดหมึกกี่ลำ ชื่ออะไรสีอะไร ส่วนใหญ่มักมีคำว่า โชคเอย วาสนาเอยต่อด้วยชื่อลูก หรือชื่อตัวเจ้าของ เช่น เรือที่บ้านชื่อโชคณัตพล ๑ และโชคณัตพล ๒ ณัตพลคือชื่อน้องชายคนเล็กและคนเดียวของบ้าน
เวลาได้ยินเสียงปะทัด ปัง ๆๆ พวกเราจะรีบวิ่งไปท่าน้ำหลังบ้าน เพื่อจะดูว่าเรือลำไหนกำัลังออกทะเล สังเกตง่าย ๆ ค่ะ เรือที่กำลังออกทะเลจะหนักแอ่นแต๊ดวิ่งปริ่มน้ำไปเชียว เพราะลงน้ำมันน้ำแข็งแน่นเต็มอัตราศึกแล้วจะค่อย ๆ ถูกแทนที่ด้วยสัตว์น้ำที่จะออกไปจับในทะเล เพื่อให้เรือแอ่นแต๊ดกลับมาอีกครั้ง เที่ยวหลังนี่ล่ะค่ะ
แค่มองด้วยสายตาก็จะรู้เลยว่าเรือลำไหนน็อคแค่ไหน
“น็อค”หมายถึงโชคดีได้สัตว์น้ำเยอะ ได้กำไรเยอะ เจ้าของเรือจะหน้าบาน เพื่อนฝูงจะตามไปแซว แสดงความยินดี กึ่งอิจฉากันเป็นแถว แล้วตบท้ายด้วยการที่ทุกคนจะหยิบฉวยกุ้ง หมึก ปลาฉลาม ปลาอินทรีย์ จาระเม็ด ปู นู่นนี่นั่น ติดไม้ติดมือกลับบ้านไป นี่ถือเป็นธรรมเนียมที่เรือลำที่น็อคเข้ามาจะต้องแสดงน้ำใจกับพรรคพวกเพื่อนฝูง
ซึ่งเป็นธรรมเนียมที่มักถูกใจทั้งผู้ให้และผู้รับ เพราะวันรุ่งขึ้นผู้ให้ก็จะรู้ตัวว่าไม่ต้องทำกับข้าวหรอก ประเดี๋ยวก็จะมีกับข้าวหลากเมนูจากเพื่อนฝูงที่นำของที่มอบให้เมื่อคืนไปดัดแปลงแสดงฝีมืออย่างเต็มที่ แล้วนำมาแบ่งคืนจ่ายแจกกันไปมาอย่างนี้เสมอ ๆ
แม่กับเตี่ยจะคอยเป็นไกด์บอกว่าเรือลำนี้ของใคร บ้านอยู่ตรงไหน ใช้คนงานพม่าหรือมอญ หยี่ชิ้วเป็นใคร เป็นไต๋เองหรือจ้าง แอบลากนอกเขตหรือเปล่า โดนจับมากี่ครั้ง เติมน้ำมันถูกหรือน้ำมันเถื่อน มีวิทยุมดแดง มดดำ มดเอ็กซ์ รหัสเรียกขานอะไร เที่ยวที่แล้วเขาจับปลาได้เท่าไหร่ กู้เงินใคร ร้อยละเท่าไหร่ใครปล่อยดอกใคร ใครมี connection กับแพไหนในมหาชัย มีลูกกี่คน จบอะไร อยู่ที่ไหน แต่งงานหรือยัง ใครกลับมารับช่วงทำเรือต่อ ใครโกงใคร ใครปล่อยกู้ ใครขายหวย ใครขนของหนีภาษี ใครดัดแปลงเรือเป็นบ่อนสำราญเคลื่อนที่ ที่พาคนออกไปลอยลำเล่นการพนันกลางทะเล บ้านใครเปิดเป็นบ่อนไพ่ขนาดใหญ่ มีเรือรับส่งลูกค้าวิ่งให้ควั่กทั้งคืน จ่ายส่วยเดือนละกี่แสน ผู้คุมยศอะไร
โอย รู้ปายโม้ด…
ใครมาบ้านนี้อย่าหวังว่าจะได้คุยธุระปะปังเป็นเรื่องเป็นราวแต่แรก ทุกคนจะต้องผ่านด่านการตักข้าวมากินร่วมกันก่อน มีธุระอะไรค่อยว่ามา
แม้่บางคนอาจไม่ค่อยน่ารัก เห็นว่าที่บ้านไม่ว่าอะไร ก็หาเรื่องประหยัดมื้อเช้า แรก ๆ ก็มาคนเดียว หนัก ๆ เข้าก็ยกมาทั้งครอบครัวลูกเต้า กินเสร็จแล้วก็ทำเป็นคุยคำสองคำแล้วก็ไป บ้างก็ด้วยไม่มีจริง ๆ ก็เลยกะจะมาขอพึ่งพาสักระยะ พอมีบ้างแล้วก็จะค่อย ๆ หายหน้าไป ครูปูก็ไม่เคยเห็นว่าที่บ้านจะบ่นหรือเจ็บแค้นหรือเปลี่ยนแปลงการให้นี้แต่อย่างใด
แค่แปลกใจตรงที่ ทุกครั้งที่กลับบ้านจะได้เห็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงทีละน้อยของคนเหล่านี้อยู่เหมือนกัน เริ่มรู้จักมีของฝากติดไม้ติดมือมาบ้างแล้ว เริ่มเรียนรู้ว่ายายชอบอะไร นึกถึงก็ซื้อมาฝาก ไปเจอของชอบที่เตี่ยเคยพูดว่าอยากได้ก็หิ้วมาให้
ชะรอย! นี่คงเป็นกลวิธีในการกลายเป็นผู้มีอิทธิพลของครอบครัวเราแหง ๆ
กับข้าวที่ไม่หมดในแต่ละวันก็ไม่ทิ้งนะคะ ครูปูนี่แหละค่ะ รับหน้าที่ตักกับข้าวใส่ถุง ปั่นจักรยานไปแจกตามบ้านคนจน ๆ (กว่าเรา) ตั้งแต่เด็ก ๆ
บ้างก็เป็นคนรับจ้างล้างสะพานปลา บ้างก็เป็นคนงานรับจ้างแกะกุ้ง หรือเป็นลูกจ้างเรือประมง (ที่บ้านเรียก คนเรือ) หลายครอบครัวยากจนลูกเยอะ พอเอากับข้าวไปให้เขาเสร็จแล้ว ยังต้องมีหน้าที่รายงานสภาพความเป็นอยู่ของเขาให้ที่บ้านฟังด้วยนะ ว่าอยู่กันยังไง ลูกเต้าเค้าเนื้อตัวมอมแมมไหม เสื้อผ้าเสื้อผ่อนเก่าสกปรก คับตึงขนาดไหน
ด้วยการนำเสนอรายงานเพียงเท่านี้ ก็พอที่จะเป็นสาเหตุให้หม่อมแม่ของครูปูนอนกระสับกระส่่ายได้ทั้งคืน เช้าตรู่วันรุ่งขึ้นจะรีบทำงานบ้านทุกอย่าง บริการทุกคนไว้เรียบร้อยแล้วหายตัวไปค่อนวัน

ค่อย ๆ เลือกแยกเป็นกอง ๆ ด้วยความปลาบปลื้ม ปากก็พร่ำบ่น
“ชิ้นนี้ของคนนู้น ชิ้นนู้นของคนนี้ ดูสิยังใหม่อยู่เลย มันไม่เอาเสียแล้ว ช่างซื้อจริง ๆ เงินทั้งนั้น”
ว่าแล้วก็แบกถุงหายไปอีกครึ่งวัน
ขากลับเดินฮำเพลงเบา ๆ เข้าบ้าน
โดยมีถุงเปล่าใบใหญ่ใบเดิมในมือ
พร้อมกับหน้าตาที่อิ่มเอิบกว่าตอนขาไปแยะเลยค่ะ…
