พอลูกๆ มาถึงบ้าน สิ่งแรกที่แม่ทุกคนมักจะปฏิบัติเหมือนๆกัน คือจะเตรียมทำอาหารที่ลูกชอบ ” วันนี้อยากกินอะไร? “ สำหรับที่บ้านวรารักษ์แล้วจะมีน้ำเก๊กฮวย(สามสหาย สายน้ำผึ้ง เตยหอม และเก็กฮวย) เตรียมไว้ในตู้เย็นอย่างพอเพียง ชื้อขนมจีนน้ำยาที่ลูกชอบไว้ เที่ยวนี้มีของโปรดที่ลูกๆ ชอบ ตั้งใจเคี่ยวน้ำปลาหวานไว้กินกับมะม่วงดิบ(งามเมืองย่ากำลังกิน) มื้อเย็นมีผัดดอกชมจันทร์กับกุ้ง ต้มจืดเกี๊ยมไฉ่ น้ำพริกปลาฉลาดกับผักต้ม ผัดเห็ดภูฐาน และปลาสลิดทอด เสร็จมื้อเย็น สักพักก็มะม่วงน้ำปลาหวาน นี่แหละความสุขที่กินได้
มืดค่ำทุกคนก็มีงานของตัวเอง จึงหามุมที่เหมาะทำงานกัน ลูกคนโตทำพาวเวอร์พอยท์ให้บริษัท ลูกคนเล็กซ่อมฮาร์ดดีส ส่วนอาม่าไม่ได้ทำอะไรเลยนอนก่อน ตื่นเช้าตั้งใจจะชวนลูกๆ ไปตลาดในชุมชนไม่ไกลจากบ้านมากนัก ลูกคนกลางบอกว่าทั้งน้องและพี่ทำงานจนดึกมากคงอยากนอนมากกว่า
อาม่าจึงไปจ่ายตลาดกับลูกสาวคนกลาง ที่ตลาดโคกกรวด ได้ไข่เป็ดสดๆ มาต้ม(ไข่ต้มยางมะตูม) ได้ผักพื้นบ้านสดๆ พร้อมใช้สำหรับทำแกงไตปลาครบตามสูตรลับของบ้านวรารักษ์ที่ต้องใส่เห็ดเผาะด้วย แล้วก็ได้ปลาดุกอ้วนๆ มาแกงเหลืองกับยอดฟักทองอวบๆน่ากิน ได้มะม่วงกะล่อน (บางบ้านเรียกมะม่วงตอแหล)มะม่วงป่าที่หากินยากแล้วในตอนนี้ และได้มะม่วงน้ำดอกไม้สวยๆ เพิ่มอีก วันนี้มีวาสนาดีจริงๆ ได้กล้วยเล็บมือนางมาอย่างไม่คาดคิดจากตลาดเล็กๆ สิ่งที่เลำ่ลือคือข้าวทอดที่แสนอร่อยของโคกกรวด ก็ได้มาอีกเช่นกัน ซื้อขนมถั่วแปป และข้าวเหนียวมูลมาด้วย กลับมารีบลงมือทำอาหารมื้อกลางวัน และอาหารที่จะเอากลับไปกินที่กรุงเทพ
ภาพสุดท้ายนี้ เป็นฝีมือลูกสาวคนกลาง ที่ถ่ายรูปดอกไม้ต้นไม้ ตอนที่มาถึงแถมเก็บภาพที่แม่กำลังสอนชินจังลูกชายหมอหยก ที่พ่อแม่มาฝากไว้ก่อนเที่ยง หลังจากกินมื้อเที่ยงแล้วมาช่วยย่า(ซึ่งชินจังเีรียก อาม่าว่า “ย่า”) เตรียมดินปลูกต้นไม้แล้วยังช่วยปอกหัวหอมไว้ใช้ซอยใส่ในน้ำปลาหวาน เพื่อเตรียมเป็นของว่างรับ พวกอาๆ ที่กำลังเดินทางจากรุงเทพ จะมาถึงในช่วงบ่ายวันที่ ๑๕ พค. หลังจากนั้นชินจังยากประดิษฐ์ดอกไม้จากใบไปไม้แบบต่างๆ ซึ่งชินจังไปเห็นที่วางอยู่บนโต๊ะ ย่าก็สอนให้ ทำดอกกุหลาบจากใบเตยหอม เป็นความสุขเล็กๆ ที่แบ่งปันให้กันและกันค่ะ ลูกๆทุกคนรักและเอ็นดูหนูชินจังมาก และดีใจที่ชินจังมาช่วยทำให้อาม่าไม่เหงา
